TOTAL is a leading energy group employing almost 100,000 employees worldwide. TOTAL Lubricants, a subsidiary of the Group, deals in the production and distribution of lubricating oils and derivative products.
Since last year, the TOTAL Company organizes a challenge for startups, called "Startupper of the year".
They want to support good ideas and help to solve the most important problems of the community in many countries (maybe also your country). This may include, for example, access to education, improvement of public health, development of access to electricity in rural areas, greater road safety or building houses of eco materials. The theme might be anything that will make life better.
After the success of the first edition in 34 African countries, this year the challenge was extended to 55 countries from the whole world. Three winners from each country will receive financial support, an advertising campaign and coaching. From the group of winners, we will select regional leaders who will receive some additional help.
This year, the Entrepreneur Woman of the Year award was introduced. During the first challenge, nearly 25% of the winners were women, even though only 13% of the applications were submitted by women. This activity is also part of the Total initiative for the women equality.
