About this good practice
EMAS organisations can use this regulatory relief: if their environmental Management System complies in an equivalent manner with the reporting, recording and transmitting obligations for environmentally relevant data regarding environmental laws, ordinances and notices. This means they do not need to Report those environmentally relevant data multiple times if they have already reported them within their environmental Management System. For Example:
(2) For organizations registered in accordance with § 16 or § 15 (5), the following reporting and recording obligations as well as transmission duties shall be canceled
1. The publication of emission data according to § 13 Abs. 1 and 2 of the Environmental Information Act, BGBl. No. 495/1993, and,
2. Recording obligations acc. § 17 AWG 2002 with regard to waste that is subject to compulsory connection to the municipal waste collection system.

Resources needed
Legislative and technical efforts are low. The time savings of the Competent Authority and the organisations are potentially high
Evidence of success
Reporting obligations and reporting means have changed since the adoption of this relief. Thus,as far as we know, this relief is not used any more. However, time savings are potentially very high for the competent authorites and the organisation - thus, the relief might be interesting for other countries.
Potential for learning or transfer
As the benefits for competent authorities and organisations are potentially high, the implemention of this relief can lead to a true added value for EMAS.
