Achieving a long-lasting mental fitness for elderly people with the help of various online games in a virtual environment.
According to the World Health Organization due to the worldwide improvement of the healthcare conditions, the number of the elderly has been growing, while a fast-growing rate of chronic illnesses is recorded everywhere across the globe, as well.
The process of ageing is complex, where there is no direct link between the state of the physical and mental skills, meaning that the help has to be adjusted in a unique manner to individual requirements.
However, how can we transform the challenges that the elderly is facing into opportunities for them, as well as for the entire society?
After having consulted with clinical research organizations, tested the platform in 3 different countries and evaluated the data to make personalized suggestions, the platform proved to be successful.
With the help of intelligent solutions made available especially for the senior citizens, their social and health condition can improve, which will increase their (action) independence, and by default, improve their quality of life.
There is a high volume of researched data that acknowledges the high capacity of seniors to understand and be interested in technologies adjusted to their needs.
Thus, given that they are receiving help and tools, the elderly can improve their physical and mental health condition.

Difficulties encountered

Difficulties with the development of special games: not all of the ideas of clinical experts are easy to be developed.
Because of the clinical validation, the selection criteria are strict, which can cause a high drop-out rate of elderly users.

Potential for learning or transfer

Communication and establishing new connections with elderly care/support organisations.
