Joaquín Villar (AEA) presented a section on "Energy poverty, opportunity for energy rehabilitation" in the Conference "Health, savings and comfort with efficient buildings" fruit of the leadership of the POWERTY project.

The Junta de Andalucía is promoting an efficient, sustainable and carbon-neutral energy transition to address the great global challenge of fighting climate change.

In this new model, energy rehabilitation occupies a fundamental place. Not surprisingly, more than half of the 4.3 million homes in Andalusia are older than 40 years and the results of the registered energy certificates show that they require higher amounts of energy than would correspond to an efficient building.

The energy rehabilitation of homes and buildings offers a triple benefit: it improves the lives of the people who inhabit them, facilitating greater comfort; allows to reduce the energy bill, with the consequent economic savings that this entails; and it has a favorable impact on people's health, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions derived from the use of fossil energy sources.

Currently, very advanced technology is available to provide homes and buildings with high-performance energy ratings that reduce energy consumption needs.

In these conferences we will delve into the benefits of energy rehabilitation, studying various success stories, and the financial instruments managed by the Andalusian Energy Agency that facilitate energy improvement investments will be presented.
