After the first set of workshops held by the Carinthian regional government, which supplied civil servants and government stakeholders with education on EVs, the Carinthians tried something new with the second slew in the autumn of 2017 and spring of 2018: Giving stakeholders a forum to get the ball rolling for positioning Carinthia in the electric vehicle world.

In a series of intense workshops, a diverse set of representatives of business entities, state owned enterprises, and think tanks sat down together with civil servants to construe a future for the region. A future, in which Carinthia is leading in the field of battery recycling, providing an answer to one of the questions about EVs’ sustainability – what to do with batteries after their usual life of usage.

The attendants were given all the help they need to organize themselves together working for such a future. Plans were laid out, and a concept of working towards making Carinthia a hot spot of sustainable battery recycling was developed. After the workshops organized by PROMETEUS ended, there was a clear organization of working groups, acting in concert to realize this goal. They were given the tools and the knowledge they needed, and are now standing on their own feet, working for a better – and more sustainable – future.
