The first local stakeholder meeting of the PROSPERA project was organised by EDC Debrecen. The purpose of this meeting was to present the project and its potential, to clarify the role of the local stakeholders and exchange good practices for the development of the peri-urban areas of Debrecen. 16 participants took part in the stakeholder meeting from different organisation, such as Municipality of Debrecen, University of Debrecen, SMEs and non-profit organisations. Potential good practices were collected that stem from the regions. These are the followings:
- Creating a GIS system which is based on modern remote sensing methods and satellite data
- Managing UNESCO World Heritage site – The case of Hortobágy
- Re-naturalization of an industrial area: Restoring dry sandy grassland – open oak forest steppe
- Establishment of modular and vertical green-walls
- ‘Zsuzsi’ narrow gauge railway system
At the next stakeholder meeting we will show the good practices from other regions and look for organisations that can go to these countries and learn about the activities.
