11 participants from Debrecen (Hungary) discussed about the good practices presented by Ghent in their stakeholder meeting held on the 1st of December. The conception of the green climate axes proved to be the most exciting and relevant from the good practices. In accordance with the methodology of the Ghent study visit, the stakeholders answered the given questions.
The Green Space Department put emphasis on the need to develop a climate strategy in which afforestation, green corridors and the Civaqua program would greatly contribute to the sustainability of the city in terms of horizontal planning. One of our stakeholders, Parkertech Ltd. added that vertical design can also help achieve these goals by using green walls. In parallel with these purposes a named goal is to create green parks for every 1 km of the city that can be reach within 400 meters walking distance. This can serve as a recreational function and create a better air quality.
