The local stakeholders meeting took place after the study visit to Varberg to discuss the similarities and differences between the two local contexts. Moreover, Reggio Emilia stakeholders found some good practices presented by the City of Varberg extremely interesting and relevant to enhance the sustainable development of Reggio Emilia’s peri-urban areas. For instance, the participatory approach implemented by the Municipality for the development of rural villages in close cooperation with citizens and local actors; or the support offered by EMC to local companies that want to implement a circular economy model; and finally the redevelopment of a former landfill site that led to a reflection on a similar project carried out in the territory of Reggio Emilia.
