Scotland supports social enterprises to go global
On 6 March 2018, Scottish Enterprise held a Knowledge Exchange Event for key social enterprise advisers working across Scotland’s eco-system. Alongside primary business support partners, Just Enterprise and Business Gateway, Scottish Enterprise invited approximately 40 social enterprise specialists to a workshop exploring support available to social enterprises keen to internationalise. Scottish Development International provided key information and led a workshop discussion while two of Scotland’s most successful international social enterprises (Challenges Worldwide and Social Enterprise Academy) provided interesting and informative accounts of their journey from start up organisations to global successes.
In addition, delegates were informed of the plans in place for the 10th Social Enterprise World Forum being held in Edinburgh in September 2018. Participants were invited to stay for a networking lunch where they met colleagues and made contacts across the Scottish social enterprise network, ensuring better communication and understanding of the wider support available nationally and locally.
