Third stakeholder group meeting in Ireland

The Irish stakeholder group for RaiSE celebrated the third meeting on 23 May 2018 in Dublin. 

Update on RaiSE Project Activities

It was noted that good progress has been made with the development of the new strategy on social enterprise, albeit a little slower than expected. The literature review has been completed and a wide ranging consultation process carried out with some issues around the definition of social enterprises noted. A research report is now being developed and it is expected too that a policy plan will be completed by the Department by Q3 2018. Seamus McCormack advised that the final RaiSE Partner meeting is due to be held in Jan / Feb 2019, possibly in the West of Ireland, and he offered the group the opportunity to co-host an event to publicise the completed policy at that point, should it be appropriate.

Examples of Good Practice

Seamus McCormack updated the group on the recent RaiSE Partner meeting in Örebro, Sweden, and thanked Tracey Hannon for presenting Clann Credo as an example of Good Practice. Tracey detailed her experience, in particular the case study visits made by the group to local successful social enterprises there. The very collaborative approach was noted as was the high level of state investment in social enterprises, and the management model of social enterprises being run in partnership with local government agencies and led by social workers. It was noted that the second Good Practice is currently being drafted (Pobal), and it will be presented at the next Partner Meeting in Edinburgh.

Next Event – Partner Meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland

It was noted that the next RaiSE Partner Meeting will be held in Edinburgh on 12th to 14th September and will coincide with the Social Enterprise World Forum. This event will also include Study Visits to local social enterprises, workshops on Good Practices identified by the RaiSE Project and an opportunity to attend the Social Enterprise World Forum Conference. The meeting is being hosted by local RaiSE Partner Scottish Enterprise.
