The 5th Interregional Exchange Event of the REBUS project will gather representatives of institutions from 8 EU countries interested in the topic of energy efficiency in public buildings and striving for the development of model energy renovation path for this group of buildings. The event will give them an opportunity to exchange on their good practices concerning planning, implementing and monitoring energy renovations and increasing energy awareness of building users. The attendees will also share their ideas concerning possible improvement of future renovation projects.
The event will start with the presentation of the regional air protection strategy determining main directions of low-carbon projects implemented in Małopolska Voivodeship, also targeted at public and private buildings. Then representative of the City of Cracow will present local thermal retrofitting strategy and representative of the neighbouring municipality of Niepołomice will present their model retrofitting project, including installation of PV cells, implementation of smart metering systems and wide-spread educational campaign addressed at building users. This will give a start to further exchange of good and replicable practices developed in other project regions. During the networking part the participants will also focus on regional action plans aiming at improving relevant policy instruments and on the model energy renovation path that will guide European regional and local authorities through the process of improving energy characteristics of their buildings.
The event will be accompanied with the study visit to the nearby municipality of Niepołomice and the 5th project partners' meeting. Niepołomice is one of the Polish frontrunners in the area of sustainable energy development. The municipality is a Covenant of Mayors signatory and implements ambitious Sustainable Energy Action Plan, including actions targeted both at public and private sector. During the visit the participants will get familiar with some of the interventions aiming at reducing energy consumption and switching to renewable energy in public buildings.
Following projects will be presented:
• one of schools/cultural centers subjected to deep energy renovation (thermal retrofit of the envelope, modernisation of internal installations, installation of RES, installation of smart metering systems, educational campaign);
• installation of heat pumps and PV plant in Royal Castle (example of RES use in historic buildings);
• installation of heat pumps supplied with electricity from PV panels in the indoor swimming pool (with educational dashboards showing energy generation and consumption to the users);
On the way it will be also possible to see solar thermal collectors installed on private buildings within the project coordinated by the municipality.
