The Lithuanian Innovation Centre organised two Stakeholder Meetings in Vilnius for the 2nd semester of the RECREATE project, both on 23rd May 2019.
The first meeting started with an informative presentation about how to adapt a business model to emerging technologies and turn current challenges into opportunities. It followed a macro-economy analysis that showed how Lithuania is lacking behind in terms of productivity and innovation in transport and manufacturing sectors compared to Western Europe countries which are characterized by a higher level of internationalization in technology products and services and better overall performance. This situation causes numerous challenges for the competitiveness of Lithuanian business in transport sector. This led to a lively discussion within the audience about the main strategic goals of companies in the transport sector, how those companies are planning to reach those goals and what challenges hinder from achieving them.
The second meeting also focused on an analysis of the situation of Lithuania businesses in the transport sector as well as on current opportunities for companies. The European Enterprise Network was presented as a tool for companies to reach their goals or address their challenges, especially if they are looking to expand to new markets and are lacking the resources. Also InoConnect was presented: this is a funding measure for companies conducting research projects and looking for partners for this specific purpose. In the final session, there was a discussion about innovation and new technologies in the transport sector and how businesses can benefit from them, needs and fears of the companies when participating in government funding measures, current issues faced.
