The overall objective of RENATUR is the identification, analysis, dissemination and transfer of good practices and policy experiences related to the protection of natural heritage of Peri-Urban Open Spaces (PUOS) into regional policy instruments. Taking into account rising pressure to distribute public funding on that purpose, The Board of the Mazovia Voivodeship defined the Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020 as a policy instrument to be discussed and improved within the project.

Mazovia Development Agency LtD, operating on behalf of Mazovia Voivodeship, invited participants for an online workshop on the 14th January 2022. Based on the professional knowledge and experience of experts from RENATUR partner regions, the team worked together and exchanged solutions during the workshop to define efficient solutions to be implemented in next years for the promotion and protection of the natural heritage of PUOS.

The specific challenges discussed during the workshop:
a) methods and tools to stimulate expected behaviour of beneficiaries of the Regional Operational Programme using formal mechanisms of the Structural Fund;
b) methods and approaches to define and clarify the role and significance of ecosystem services to local decision makers and citizens/local communities;
c) methods to evaluate the implementation of the Regional Operational Programme with direct focus on its input on the protection of the natural heritage of PUOS.
