Project Hub Event provided a platform to voice needs for National Operating Program implementation in South Karelia February 21st 2023
Regional Council of South Karelia organised in Co-operation with other regional development funding organisation an event for a wide stakeholder group. The workshop was targeted at project organizations to provide them information about the funding opportunities and a place to team up with others to create new project offerings.
The programme was organized in two parts. First the participants were informed about the funding opportunities through the various programmes implemented in the region.
National Operating Programme “Uudistuva ja Osaava Suomi 2021-2027” was presented including ERDF funding opportunities in South Karelia.
In the second part of the event, the participants were commenting and enriching the thematic content of regional programme. The teamwork was framed by Regional Plan and Smart Specialisation Strategy.
S3UNICA aspects of low-carbon construction and real estate energy efficiency were a part of “Green transition forerunners” in Smart Specialisation Strategy. The participants highlighted the need to set an example through environmentally responsible public buildings and real estate management. Other remarks concerned the need to take sustainability as a planning principle. Experimentation and pilots were seen as a good practice, even if the result would be that it does not work.
The experience during S3UNICA project and stakeholder discussions has been, that there is more willingness than ability for risk taking. Public funding is there to lower the threshold for experimentation.
