SMARTWASTE invites you to its hybrid high-level political dissemination event, set to unfold in Sofia and online on 11 May 2023. This event will act as the project’s final event and will serve as an occasion to reflect on its outcome and build upon its results.

The first day will be open to the public with the aim to give you key elements to improve public authorities’ waste management strategies, to strive towards more circularity. The morning will be dedicated to conferences to give you a detailed background on the situation, while the afternoon will be focused on interactive working groups. Indeed, the day will start with a detailed presentation of the project and what is at stake, but also from a state of play of the Interreg Europe programme. The municipality of Sofia will ensure the keynote speech on “Advancing circular transition and green growth.”, right before leaving the floor to the consortium through an interactive panel “The SMART WASTE way”.

In the afternoon you will get to choose between 3 working groups: “Technologies for waste collection and recycling”, “The circular role of local authorities in boosting the FIVE Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Rot, Recycle”, “Funding, designing and monitoring innovative waste management measures”. While the choice between these 3 might be difficult, you will benefit from a common wrap up to find out more on the other working groups’ conclusions. This event will also be the opportunity to meet interesting stakeholders and will leave plenty of time to networking!

Partners only activities will take place on 12 May, with a final steering committee gathering to conclude the project in due form, and a study visit Sofia Mechanical & Biological Treatment Plant, village of Bogrov.
