Looking for examples of innovative differentiated taxation or awareness-raising models to improve separate waste collection and reduce waste?

ACR+ in the framework of the LIFE REthink WASTE project published a catalogue of a dozen recent practices in pay as you throw (PAYT) and know as you throw (KAYT), using taxation, information, and technology to improve waste performances. It covers cities ranging from municipalities with a few thousand inhabitants, to medium-sized cities, and to European metropoles.

In addition, a set of nine cluster projects, including SMART WASTE, accompany the description of these experiences to frame them in a broader context.

Recently, on 18 June 2020, LIFE REthink WASTE was presented in the WINPOL thematic webinar in which SMART WASTE was also involved. You can read more about it here.

The LIFE REthink WASTE project has received funding from the LIFE Programme of the EU. It aims at rethinking municipal tariff systems to improve urban waste governance.
