The Active and Assisted Living (AAL) programme launched last November the Smart Ageing Prize, a challenge concerning SMEs, start-ups, entrepreneurs, innovators, designers, tech enthusiasts, individuals, groups and organisations proposing innovative solutions to support older people to participate fully in social life using digital technologies.

The judging panel comprised of industry leaders and experts in technology, design, healthcare and ageing from across Europe select candidates based on 5 criteria:

- Innovation

- Co-creation

- Market potential

- Product

- Impact

They have announced 15 semi-finalists, from 95 innovative proposals, to attend a mentoring academy in Brussels.

The final prize will be delivered in September in Bilbao: first prize (€35,000), second prize (€10,000) and judges’ choice (€5,000).
