In the line of the European Pillar of Social Rights EU Member States came to an agreement on three different proposals from the European Commission.
It concerns social security coordination, a new work-life balance directive and a directive on transparent and predictable working conditions.
"Concerning the social security area, the EU gives a framework to make sure every citizen gets a social security cover wherever he stays in Europe but also support for Member States to prevent fraud or abuse. The recent Commission's proposal for a European Labour Authority will complement and facilitate the implementation of the rules on social security coordination to ensure fair labour mobility. " said Marianne Thyssen, DG Empl
As it goes for work life balance and working conditions, the agreement will state some new rules about parental, paternity and carer's leave and modernises existing obligations to inform all workers of their working conditions.
Marianne Thyssen, the Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility welcomes this agreement that will make a real difference in the citizens’ life.
This is a concrete image of what the European Pillar of Social Rights will bring to EU citizens: awareness, social inclusion, protection and fairness throughout the European Union.
