New project CERUSI from Interreg Central Europe will support social innovations in rural areas.
In 2019, the Interreg Central Europe launched its 4th call of the current programming period. The main idea of this experimental call was to create proposals that would build on complementing results and outputs from projects co-financed by Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE and directly-managed EU programmes such as Horizon 2020, LIFE, or Connecting Europe Facility. In total, 9 project proposals were approved, one of them with a focus on social entrepreneurship.
Project CERUSI - “Central European Rural Social Innovation - Implementing Central European Rural Social Innovation Lab Caravans to build skills and capacities in social innovation, social entrepreneurship and circular economy” is led by Austrian partner ZSI (Centre for Social Innovation) and brings together 9 partners from 8 regions of the Interreg Central Europe. The project builds on results of Social(i)makers, LIVERUR and SENTINEL projects and its main objectives are: to harvest regional social capital and knowledge resources, create an intermediary support network for social businesses and innovators, establish a sustainable stakeholder network locally and transnationally & support local actors in developing social innovations and social entrepreneurship. Even though that RERA wasn’t involved in either of the mentioned projects, its experience with the SOCIAL SEEDS project (Interreg Europe) and the SENSES project (Interreg Danube) proved valuable for the implementation.
The project launched in February 2020 and is expected to be finished after 24 months in January 2022. Project partners already met for a Kick-off meeting in Vienna, Austria in order to divide roles and responsibilities within the project’s implementation.
