Project SWARE partners had a productive 2-day meeting in Valmiera, Latvia. This time Vidzeme Planning Region welcomed all partners to the region's capital which prides itself with the picturesque River Gauja called the main "street" of the city.

All 5 regional action plans were presented by partners. And the content of an Overarching Policy Recommendations paper was discussed that will be targeted towards policy makers on the EU level. Waterways regions have a special identity, was the idea that arouse during the meeting. And the cultural and natural heritage brings both economic benefits and increases the quality of life for the community, therefore it is important to tackle these issues on all levels.

This was a closure meeting of the Phase 1. Now during the Phase 2 – the next 2 years – recommended actions will be enforced and partners will monitor the progress.
