On June 9th, the online edition of the forum ' EUROPE, LET' S COOPERATE! organized by Interreg Europe took place. On this occasion, ACIS presented the results of the European project TITTAN, led from Galicia, in which 6 other European regions are currently involved. Within the framework of this project, the Pilot action of the Health Living Lab of Ourense was developed. More than 1,000 people from all over Europe participated in this event through Interreg social channels.
This year's event was different from previous editions, firstly because it celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Interreg Europe Programme, which is dedicated to promoting interregional cooperation in Europe, and secondly because this year's edition focused on helping the regions to face up to the COVID-19 crisis and become more resilient.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the presentation of solutions from different European projects that would serve as inspiration to strengthen cooperation and provide better coverage in these difficult times. Among the 4 projects chosen was TITTAN, led by ACIS, with the participation of Galicia, the Basque Country, Scotland, the city of Almere, Lombardy, Saxony and Lower Silesia. The aim of this project is to foster innovation in the health sector in order to achieve active and healthy ageing for the elderly, one of the groups most affected by the pandemic.
On behalf of ACIS, the person in charge of presenting the project of the Health Living Lab in Ourense was José María Romero Hidalgo, director of the Innovation area of ACIS, who explained the results obtained so far and the basic lines of the pilot project implemented in Ourense, whose objective is to test the Health Living Lab model before extending it to the entire Galician health system. The pilot action developed by ACIS is one of 13 pilot actions approved and funded in 2019.
The Health Living Lab in Ourense is the first laboratory of the Labsaúde Network which brings together Public Administration, Universities, research centres, companies, support organisations from the biomedical and biotechnology sector and society. It is a space for creation, promoting innovation, knowledge transfer and the development of an entrepreneurial business network in the health sector
The Living Lab in Ourense has an experimental hospital environment located in the Ourense University Hospital Complex, with clinical scenarios of great technological development where selected initiatives are tested. Thus, the teams of the selected projects can put their ideas into practice in the experimental hospitalisation floor areas, therapy rooms and other spaces for therapeutic use, such as an orchard and a bio-health park.
