Kristianstad leads the way on national green planning in Sweden

In the beginning of June Kristianstad municipality and Movium finalized one of the two parts in the local action plan within UL2L. It is an over 100-page long guide on green planning and includes information about the process to create a green plan, good examples, challenges to take into account and methods that can be useful in the development as well as follow up measures. The guide can be used by anyone interested in green planning in Sweden and Europe.
On the 17th of June Kristianstad municipality, the association for municipalities of Scania and Movium arranged a webinar to present the main results from the guide and the Swedish environmental protection agency, as well as The Swedish board on building, housing and planning presented their plan on the continuation of the work. Over 100 participants from all over the country listened in on the web.
The authorities will base their continuing work on the guide that Kristianstad has produced together with Movium. The plan is to link together the various guidelines that already exist and show how they can be used within the framework of the green planning guidelines that are being developed. It will be in line with the overall goals and strategies that exist nationally and internationally and the target groups are those who develop and will use a green plan, decision-makers, elected representatives and managers, county administrative boards and regions. The national guide will be produced in the fall of 2020 with the goal of being disseminated during the spring of 2021. The final version of the guide will be a digital platform on the authority’s websites as well as other communication tools and education material.
