The Public Enterprise for Social Housing and Refurbishment in Andalusia (AVRA) has developed an Action Plan in the context of the EU-funded Interreg Europe project, VIOLET "preserVe tradItiOnal buIliLdings through Energy reducTion", to fulfil its general objective of improving regional policies in the field of rehabilitation and conservation of historical buildings with energy performance criteria and low carbon emissions, without endangering heritage values.

This strategic document, which was approved and launched in early 2020 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021, includes the actions and measures that are necessary to improve regional policies in the field of renovation and conservation of historical buildings by introducing energy improvement criteria whilst leaving the intrinsic value of the building untouched.

As identified during the first phase of the project, in collaboration with the CoP, tackling the rehabilitation of heritage buildings in Andalusia with demanding energy efficiency criteria means facing multiple challenges on the strategic, legislative, scientific-technological and organisational levels; therefore, the approach must be multi-sectoral and integrated. The Action Plan developed within the VIOLET Project, which contains 3 main actions, has therefore been designed with the intention of facing these challenges with this in mind.

The implementation of this Action Plan began with the fulfilment of the main objective of the project, which means an improvement in a regional policy (in this case, the TO 6 of the OP ERDF 2014-2020), which is a relevant achievement for the project and highly critical to the CFIOT and its Programme for the Rehabilitation of Heritage Buildings of Architectural Interest (PREPIA), as well as for other programmes and initiatives funded by this Thematic Objective.

Holding an event at this time provides for an excellent opportunity not only to present the strategic document, but also to explain the actions and measures that are being implemented, as well as their impact on regional policies and the possible transfer of results to European policies. The event will also demonstrate examples of good practices in the field, particularly those that have inspired this Action Plan, and other initiatives that may be carried out in the future in Andalusia. In addition, there will be a round table with the participation of the speakers, in which those attending will be able to participate.

The conference is scheduled to take place on 10 June 2021 and is expected to last approximately 3.5 hours, from 10.00 to 13.30 CET.

Given the current circumstances resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the meeting will initially be held via video conference, with a simultaneous translation service for the presentations in Spanish, French and English.
