VIOLET 3rd Semester Community of Practice Meetings – Overall Summary

(Project partners individual CoP Summary's can be viewed in the Library Project Documentation folder)

The 3rd Semester CoP Meetings of the VIOLET Project partners resulted in defining various actions to take and ideas to implement. The partners mainly discussed the topics of public relations and marketing-oriented communication, concluding that the reach of the owners of relevant buildings should be as high as possible. At the Municipality of Middelburg CoP meeting in the Netherlands, the partners decided on the idea to create a video that communicates the possibilities within the scope of VIOLET as well as inspiring an urgency to act.

At the Public Enterprise for Social Housing and Refurbishment in Andalusia CoP meeting, the VIOLET partners planned a Europe-wide event that will take place in Seville next 24th of October. Such planning involved selecting the event's structure and speakers, as well as asking other European projects (such as EFFESSUS) to share their Good Practices, methodology and knowledge. All partners will be demonstrating the top three Good Practices from their regions.

Furthermore, the finalisation of the Good Practices was planned at the Cyprus Energy Agency CoP meeting, at which candidates were listed and introduced. The participants of the meeting suggested possible solutions for the matters raised after their SWOT analysis. Here, a fruitful discussion was held, and a consensual conclusion was met.

The CoP workshop of the Bordeaux Local Energy and Climate Agency concluded with a study visit to a typical Bordeaux house that was currently under renovation. For this visit, the CoP members were joined by other energy and cultural heritage experts, resulting in a total of 25 attendees. This culturally significant house has been completely insulated (roof, floor, walls and double-glazing efficient windows) and renewable energy systems have been installed (photovoltaic solar panels, a heat pump and a thermodynamic water heater). After the completion of the energy renovations, the energy consumptions are expected to be five times less than they were previously, while the CO2 emissions will be twenty times less than the original levels (initially, it was a fossil fuel-based heating system).

New corporations in policy making, in between partners, and with related departments have been built. The VIOLET project proceeds to its 4th semester.
