On September 13th and 14th, about 30 people travelled to Slovenia for the third semester study visits. During the visit, attendees had a first-hand experience on integral solutions for bioenergy policies and strategies, more specifically about "elements of wood biomass chain in connection with legislation measures". The Slovenian Forest Service was in charge of the organization.
As a conclusion, the group agreed on the importance of having a bioenergy consuption demand driven to make viable the whole value chain.
It was also highlighted the relevance that in the near future will have the management of forest masses affected by abiotic calamity (wind, snow, ice, fire) as well as biotic (fungi, insects, herbivores, ...).
Study visits, along with thematic workshops and local stakeholder groups meetings, are the cornerstone of the learning process of the BIO4ECO Project.
