Interdepartmental meeting was organized to discuss draft version of Latvian Bioeconomy strategy 2030 among relevant ministries and institutions. The Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Finances, Ministry of Regional Development and Environmental Protection, Cross-sectoral Coordination Center and Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments participated in the meeting. Institutions agreed to start institutional and public consultation of the strategy in the Cabinet of Ministers.
During the meeting, institutions discussed different cross-sectoral issues, including biomass and land use management planning. Parties agreed to reconcile strategy and it`s aspirational goals and move on by including bioeconomy aspects as appropriate in all relevant sectorial strategies and other planning documents. Land use policy planning currently is one of the most widely discussed topic related to bioeconomy throughout all policy planning process in Latvia.
