BIOREGIO – Meeting with the Managing Authority of the Operational Program of Region of Central Macedonia, Greece
The Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia on behalf of the Region of Central Macedonia (PP6) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (PP5) organized a web meeting with the Managing Authority of the Operational Program of Region of Central Macedonia on Monday, 14th of February 2022.
In the context of the meeting, the progress of the BIOREGIO project was presented (aims, results, policy framework for the promotion of the circular economy in the Central Macedonia Region, implementation of the Action Plan, etc.). Moreover, the additional activities of the BIOREGIO project were analyzed with reference to the Good Practice related to the use of wastewater-based epidemiology for the estimation of the total SARS CoV-2 load in the population of the Thessaloniki metropolitan area, in the context of the research conducted by the wastewater epidemiology team of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). After the presentations, a discussion took place about the integration of the circular economy and bio-economy in the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation (RIS3) and the Regional Operational Program of Central Macedonia in the new programming period 2021-2027.
