ICECHIM – Calarasi Subsidiary organized a regional BIOREGIO dissemination event on October 25, 2017. The workshop was part of ICECHIM's already 13th annual international symposium - PRIOCHEM and enjoyed a large audience including representatives from research institutes, universities, NGOs, large companies, and SMEs. The total number of participants was over 400, including a small part of participants from abroad as well. Altogether 108 organisations were present.

The BIOREGIO dissemination event was part of a workshop called "Innovative Approaches for Enhancing the Sustainability and Resilience of Bioeconomy in Romania" where two closely related projects, in which ICECHIM is involved, were presented. The first project, called Secvent (2016-2021), funded by the EC through the competitiveness operational programme, aims at obtaining high added-value products from bioeconomy side-flows. It involves research in close cooperation with enterprises who can use the results to improve their profitability and environmental performance.

The second project, BIOREGIO (2017-2021), funded by INTERREG EUROPE, is a wonderful opportunity to share experience and learn from the partner regions how new technology is applied in their regions to support the circular economy of biological flows.

The BIOREGIO dissemination event was attended by 62 participants, mainly from research institutes and universities, but also SMEs and NGOs, and the main topics were the presentation of the BIOREGIO project, bio-based circular economy Good Practices from our project partners and an example of a new composting pilot project in Mioveni, Romania.

The participants were very interested in the presented technologies, and we hope that the Romanian authorities will also cooperate in supporting their implementation, in order to comply with EU strategies and regulations.
