Regional Council of Päijät-Häme held a dissemination event in Lahti, Finland on 22.November 2017. The focus was on the EU funding instruments that can be used for developing regions, regions politics, know-how and competitiveness. Invited experts presented, for example, the South-Finland Russia CBC – program, Interreg Baltic Sea Region – programme and Horizon 2020 – programme.

Mr Ilkka Myllymäki and Ms Krista Taipale (on the picture bellow) from the Helsinki EU Office from Brussels told us also about funding that is especially intended for SME’s. “You are more than welcome to use the Helsinki EU Office services and premises in Brussels for project partner meetings and workshops.” Ms Taipale encouraged listeners. The Office and its staff also offered a help in finding project partners and networking with experts.



The main reason of this dissemination event was to present two Interreg Europe projects, BIOREGIO and TANIA. Regional Council of Päijät-Häme is a partner in both projects. The representatives of these ongoing projects presented practical experiences of project actions done so far.

A Project Manager, Susanna Vanhamäki (in the picture below), told that BIOREGIO project has collected Päijät-Häme regions Good Practices of circular economy and bio-based side streams handling. Another big effort conducted by BIOREGIO has been a policy questionnaire. This questionnaire summed up the policy situation concerning circular and bio-based circular economy in the national and regional strategies in each of the BIOREGIO partner country.



A Project Researcher, Katariina Lahti, from the University of Helsinki presented TANIA project to the audience. In TANIA (TreAting contamination through NanoremedIAtion), the current work is focusing on planning regional action plans with the stakeholder group. In this stage, it is important to receive as much information as possible related to the current situation, regional needs and expertise that are relevant concerning treating contaminated soils.

Both projects are having their international partner meeting on November 28th and 29th, 2017. BIOREGIO's meeting is held in Puertollano and Toledo, Spain. TANIA's meeting takes place in Metz, France.

Almost 30 active participants obtained a good package of information and answers to their questions about EU-funding instruments and benefits that both projects can offer. Participants were from research and development companies, universities and companies. Also, authorities from Lahti city were participating at the event.
