On May 10th to 11th, 2019 the Greek Bioeconomy Forum organized the "1st BIO-ECONOMY event in Greece" in Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia Region. BIOREGIO took this opportunity to disseminate the project to the public in the Central Macedonia Region, Greece. The concept of the forum focused on raising awareness about bio-economy & circular economy and promote the advantages and opportunities presented at the local, regional and national level, including among other actions the transfer of know-how and experience in the EU and worldwide.

The promising two-day event fulfilled all expectations since about 200 people coming from various sectors such as environmental scientists, industry and tourism stakeholders, academics, local and central government authorities participated and over 25 distinguished speakers from Greece and abroad shared knowledge and experiences.

Prof Nicolas Moussiopoulos head of the Laboratory of Heat Transfer and Environmental Engineering (LHTEE), AUT (who in collaboration with the Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia on behalf of Central Macedonia run the BIOREGIO project in Greece), presented the scope of the project, as well as the “Advances in the Field of Circular Bio-economy” inspired by BIOREGIO project.

"Using well what we do not use yet gaining turnover and new jobs through bio-innovation" was the message of the overall event sent to all participants.
