On 11th June 2019, the 3rd BIOREGIO Regional Dissemination event was held in Bucharest, Romania, as a part of the Conference “ROADMAP FOR DEVELOPING A STRATEGY ON THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN ROMANIA 2030”.

This is a regional event of a series of nine organized by IRCEM in Romania, focusing on the dissemination of European and Romanian best practices and models already implemented to facilitate the transition to a circular economy in Romania and to design the roadmap for developing the Romanian Circular Economy Strategy by 2030.

IRCEM Conference enjoyed 77 participants: representatives of governmental authorities, research experts, industry representatives, as well as experts in the circular economy from the EU Commission (video conference), UK (video conference), Germany and France.

It was a good opportunity to present in plenary BIOREGIO project and circular bioeconomy good practices of project partners (61 participants) and to distribute BIOREGIO brochures.


A BIOREGIO workshop was also organized in the conference: Improving the policy tool through the BIOREGIO Action Plan to support circular bio-economy in Romania. The main topics:

  1. Preparation of the regional / national strategy for circular bioeconomy
  2. Designing funding for bio-based circular economy
  3. Promoting technologies for valorization of biowaste / biological streams

It was a good opportunity to initiate discussions on circular bioeconomy transition in Romania.

A conclusion resulting from the conference: bioeconomy plays an important role in the development of the circular economy. As a result, INCDCP-ICECHIM Calarasi Subsidiary was invited to participate in the elaboration of the Romanian Strategy on circular economy by 2030 in order to share the experience of BIOREGIO project.

The event marked an important step in promoting circular bioeconomy and accelerating the transition to a more extensive and sustainable bio-waste recovery in the South Muntenia Region and in Romania.
