We started the day by site visits representing the best practices of the Päijät-Hame region. First, the efficient industrial symbioses of the Päijät-Hame Waste Management company were introduced. Following, the biggest Finnish biogas and composting company, LABIO, presented their operations. After that, a guided bus tour was organized. Then, the BIOREGIO partners and stakeholders visited another company, Lahti Energia, to learn about an unique gasification plant and ongoing constructions of the new biomass operated plant. After the lunch, we continued with a presentation of the regional Grain Cluster.
The afternoon was dedicated to workshops and project management matters so essential for the BIOREGIO project success. Being close to the nature, by the beautiful lake Vesijärvi, boosted our motivation, cooperation and hard work.
Later that day, we were honored by a visit of Jari Parkkonen, the Executive Director of the Päijät-Hame Regional Council.
