CircPro partner Prof. Gabriella M. Racca and University of Turin are official partner of #EUvsVirus Hackathon, aiming at connecting innovators, partners and buyers across Europe to develop innovative and sustainable solutions to coronavirus.
The EU Commission will host the pan-European #EUvsVirus Hackathon under the patronage of Mariya Gabriel (Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth) on 24, 25 and 26 April. The Hackathon is structured around categories of problems that need short-term solutions in relation to coronavirus health and life, business continuity, remote working and education, social & political cohesion, digital finance and an open category for other challenges. To date over 15,600 participants have already registered to the hackathon.
Mariya Gabriel said: “This pan-European hackathon is an example of how Europe can come together in times of crisis. It’s inspiring to witness this show of solidarity by our community of innovators. Our most talented minds will do their best to find solutions to coronavirus and support our citizens. This is European innovation in action”.
The Commission is committing hundreds of millions of Euros in research and innovation actions to develop vaccines, new treatments, diagnostic tests and medical systems to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. All 27 EU Member States are taking part to this initiative as well as Norway, Israel, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. The winning solutions will be invited to join a European Innovation Council Platform that will facilitate connections with end users (e.g. hospitals) and provide access to investors, foundations and other funding opportunities from across the European Commission.
This will provide the opportunity to bring CircPro expertise on circular procurement so that the circular economy principles and criteria are incorporated.
The event will be streamed live on this webpage
