It was established to support various aspects of development, and it is involved in a wide range of activities on behalf of the Region. All of the RDAO's activities are targeted to benefit the Region, its people, companies and institutions.
From its establishment is RDAO the main coordinator of several Region-wide initiatives to support entrepreneurship and innovation, technical education and training for disadvantaged groups and to gain know-how and experience from abroad. The RDAO helps draw up a range of strategic documents enabling the Region, cities, towns and municipalities to plan their development activities effectively by focusing on high-impact activities to improve the local environment and quality of life. The RDAO played also a major role in Hyundai's decision to choose the Moravian-Silesian Region (the town of Nošovice) as the site of its first European factory.
The coordination of the RIS3 strategy within the Region is the responsibility of the RDAO, which is the executive unit for the RIS3 implementation process. The implementation of the strategy is managed via the RIS3 Smart Accelerator project, which is co-financed by European Union structural and investment funds (via the Operational Programme Research, Development and Education) and by the Region’s own budget.
The RIS3 Smart Accelerator project focuses on developing the Region’s innovation environment via its RIS3 strategy, which identifies the key priority areas and maps the Region’s specific needs with regard to research, development and innovation processes. The goal of the project is to ensure that the RIS3 strategy is implemented to a high standard of quality and with efficient coordination, to improve the entrepreneurial discovery process within the Region, and thus to facilitate the achievement of the individual goals of the RIS3 strategy. The project aims to enable the Region’s knowledge potential to be harnessed to the maximum possible degree, thus helping to boost its economic competitiveness.
RDAO is involved in ClusteriX 2.0 project because nowadays clusters plays important role in implementing the RIS3 strategy in the Region and should play even more important role in the future.
