Van Hall Larenstein University is the most sustainable University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands.
The university is a signatory organization and key participant of the regional public policy called “Regiodeal - North East Friesland”.
Its applied research centre on delta areas and resources (ARC DARe) focuses on improving sustainable land use and resource management of urbanised deltas, through research, training and teaching. It operates a living lab (Fjildlab).
The Fjildlab – living lab is a major measure of the RegioDeal. It is structured as a quadruple helix, based on a cooperation between local authorities and stakeholders and uses a tool called the “ABCD Roadmap”, developed by the Alliance for Strategic Sustainable Development, that prevents scientists to lose contact with societal stakeholders.
