On June 1, 2023, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, EOI-FUNDESARTE and the Seville City Council, in collaboration with the Contemporary Association of Arts and Crafts, promote the conference "Reinventing Crafts in Europe: analysis of international models" to broaden the visibility from Spain of the crafts sector in Europe, identify priorities and gaps, and learn about new proposals and projects in our European environment through representatives of the institutions responsible for the management of crafts in their respective countries.
The event included the participation of the World Crafts Council Europe, Crafts Council UK, ARTEX (Italy), CEARTE (Portugal), BeCraft (Belgium), Design & Crafts Council Ireland and Heritage Crafts UK. The representatives of these institutions shared their best practices and addressed their main challenges in dialogue with Spanish experts in different aspects of crafts.
Among the seminar's objectives, we highlighted the importance of European crafts' social, economic and cultural values. We also talked about the urgent need to renew and implement public policies that support the growth and development of the sector in Spain.
The conference took place at the Sevilla City Office headquarters and was broadcasted via streaming with simultaneous translation in Spanish, through Fundesarte's YouTube channel.
