As a territory of the cutting edge of cyber defense and cyber security technologies, Brittany has hosted and organised the 3rd edition of the European Cyber Week on 19-22 November in Rennes, France. This year, the event welcomed more than 2000 participants, including businesses, research centres, public organisations and students from France and abroad. Technical conferences, business meetings and high-level events provided the audience with the opportunity to explore and discuss the role of artificial intelligence in cyber security and its applications in different areas, such as health, media and defence.
This European, cyber-focused event served as a perfect occasion for showcasing the role of the regions in the implementation of the cyber policy and the development of a European cyber security ecosystem. An interesting panel session, chaired by the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) and involving representatives from Castilla y Léon, Brittany, Wales, Finland and the Basque Country, pinpointed the main challenges faced by regions and identified interregional cooperation as a factor of success for the development of Cyber Valleys in Europe.
During the event, the Interreg Europe CYBER was presented as an example of cooperation project that promotes interregional learning and fosters the synergies among European cyber security valleys to better support the competitiveness of the cyber security SMEs. Interreg Europe CYBER was presented by the Bretagne Development Innovation, the lead partner of the project.
In the exhibition area, the poster of the Interreg Europe CYBER was displayed at the booth of the Regional Council of Brittany, together with the poster presenting the interregional innovation pilot action on cyber security (coordinated by the Brittany region and involving other project partners such as Castilla y Léon and Estonia).
