Local decarbonisation process is in a full swing, given that Slovenia is currently adopting the National strategy for phasing out coal and restructuring of coal intensive regions along with the principles of a just transition and other legal documents related to the cause.
The status of the actions (being carried out), the local effort, the effort of the local authorities and decision-makers and the willingness to help by the restructuring process of the local stakeholders are constantly changing. Thus, KSSENA have adapted the measures and actions in the action plan accordingly.
They have joined forces with the regional stakeholders into a strong local consortium that is carrying out all ongoing activities, actions and small projects operated for the purpose of ensuring a safe and just transition. KSSENA has done a lot of work (together with its stakeholders).
In the presented action plan, KSSENA describes 4 actions taken for the purpose of ensuring a safe and just transition of the SAŠA coal intensive region:
- ACTION 1 – Indication of 5 key action areas, by participating in the SAŠA region low carbon committee
- ACTION 2 - Formulation of suggestions for the improvements on the Program Proposition for the use of the Climate Change Fund in the period 2021 – 2023
- ACTION 3 - Communication with the Minister of the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning to implement the planned strategic measures
- ACTION 4 - Comments and suggestions on the National strategy for phasing out coal and restructuring of coal intensive regions in line with the principles of a just transition
