On September 16-17, the commencement of the 12th European Economic Forum - Łódź Voivodeship 2019 took place. This one of the most major economic events in central Poland. The special guest thereof was Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki.

During one of the first panels named “Public-private partnership as an opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises”, Vice-Minister, Waldemar Buda and Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship, Grzegorz Schreiber, signed an agreement, as a result therewith, the Łódź Voivodeship will be the first in Poland to become involved in the implementation of the so-called hybrid projects. It represents such a manner of implementing investments that they might be financed from public monies, including EU and private funds. – The idea is to lift all barriers that now either limit or prevent it – Vice-Minister, Waldemar Buda said at the press conference.

During the Forum, highly-various topics were raised, including agriculture, new technologies, and logistics. On the first day, the Forum panels were attended by, among others, Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Ryszard Zarudzki, who talked, e.g., on the profitability of high-quality food production, Vice-Minister of Investment and Development, Waldemar Buda, Government Plenipotentiary for Central Communication Port, Mikołaj Wild or Vice-Minister of Digitalization, Wanda Buk.

Marshal Grzegorz Schreiber, at the inaugural session of the Forum, announced his main topics and presented his expectations towards the event:

  • The Forum must be a discussion-oriented place in where all interested parties will be involved.
  • Many authorities from the world of science, excellent entrepreneurs, representatives of local governments and the Government are meeting and sharing. These sinergies create the quality of the Forum and the success of the Lodz Voivodeship. A new voivodeship development strategy is been created, without it there is no development of the voivodeship.

The Forum is a platform for the exchange of experiences between representatives of the business world, science and local authorities. As in previous years, representatives of small and medium enterprises meet here to share their experiences and search for new areas of development, while representatives of leading international companies will show how to build strong brands in the global arena based on local capabilities. All participants will have the opportunity to listen to lectures by well-known Polish and foreign experts, take part in industry thematic panels and establish new business contacts.

However, the European Economic Forum is not only a discussion of representatives of state institutions or international corporations. It is also a platform for the exchange of experiences between entrepreneurs - especially from the SME sector. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere guarantees learning new solutions to problems common to the industry, as well as mutual suggestion of ways to develop between different branches of the economy. Such a large group of businessmen is also a great opportunity to develop a network of contacts or find potential customers.

Participation in the Forum is a great opportunity for owners of small and medium enterprises to exchange experiences and share knowledge. For many years, Forum participants have been setting new directions for the development of their industries, transferring to each other modern methods of building strong and prospective brands. Thanks to the presence of representatives of various business branches, central authorities or local governments, the participants' heads are filled with extraordinary and effective ideas for running their companies.

The employees of the International Projects Department took advantage of the opportunities and initiatives of the Promotion Department of the Marshal's Office of the Łódzkie Voivodeship to talk about the projects and initiatives during two days of the Forum at the stand dedicated to them. The topics of decarbonisation and the transition to clean energy initiated within the framework of the "Supporting the clean energy transition of coal intensive EU regions" implemented under the Interreg Europe programme DeCarb project promotion were of great interest.
