Romania could become the third beneficiary of the Fair Transition Fund, together with Germany and Poland, after the presented projects that can to attract the allocated amounts.

These projects will need to establish the ways in which social, economic and environmental challenges will be addressed. The European Commission has presented details to the European Parliament about the mechanisms and sources of funding for this new program, called the Just Transition Fund.

With the European Green Pact (EU Green Deal), the European Commission will also allocate additional funds for the transition of coal regions to the green economy. The Commission wants to allocate about 7.5 billion euros for this program and reach a total impact of over 30 billion euros, through the co-financing that the Member States bring, according to Euractiv.com.
