The DESTI-SMART partnership was represented at the 3rd World Conference on Smart Destinations in Valencia, 21-23 November 2023, including session on smart tourism and smart mobility. This Conference supported by the UNWTO took place in Valencia, European Capital of Smart Tourism, on 21-23 November 2022.

The Conference was an open forum for discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing tourist destinations, on the solutions required to continue being competitive and sustainable, and on how technology and innovation applied to the tourism sector are generating structural changes that have been establishing a new business environment alongside tourism intelligence.

For this, public administrations, the business sector, researchers, academics, technology centres, civil society, local agents and universities from all over the world, came together to analyse and start building the tourism model of the 21st century, sharing knowledge, forming alliances and advancing their understanding of the key elements of smart tourism destinations.

This third edition of the Conference covered, among other topics, tourism governance, the digital transformation of the sector, circularity applied to tourism and new tourism indicators, without forgetting the importance of sustainability as the driver of the sector’s transformation.

The Conference included a session on European Smart Tourism and another session on smart mobility which were of high relevance to the work of the DESTI-SMART partners.

It is planned to present the DESTI-SMART project results at the 4th Smart Destinations Conference in 2024.
