LBDCA organised the first stakeholder meeting on 16th November in Siófok, with the theme:
'Sustainable Tourism Development in the Lake Balaton Region - Taking into account Low-Carbon Innovative Transport Opportunities'.
The participants of the first stakeholder meeting found interesting the presentation about the DESTI-SMART project.
The affiliations of participants were the following:

NGOs, civil organizations (4) water rescue association, national sailing association, radio emergency nationwide association,
public bodies (2) Balaton Public Security Council, National Ambulance Service.
The issue of electric jetski drew attention to a much greater problem than expected in the stakeholder meeting. “This is a matter of state-of-the-art high-speed water devices - whether powered by an internal combustion or electric motor or wind power. The danger itself is the speed, the characteristics of maneuvering and the extraordinary dimensions and parts that are different from the typical ones.” – mentioned Sándor Bagyó (water rescue association).
“According to the conditions of Lake Balaton there is no space for the simultaneous, unregulated and large number of known new innovative devices on the lake. These large-scale electric boats are just like extreme marine catamarans, or a sled and jolle type ship with underwater wing. The jetski tools have been banned from most european lakes due to traffic safety, qualification and personal competence issues, and sound effects dynamics mentioned László Horváth (Lake Balaton Water Police)”.
Due to its shallow depth of water, traditions and tourist characteristics, Lake Balaton cannot be compaired to other lakes and therefore suggests the development of a regulation.
