We care for each other, we care for our space, we become part of mobility planning

As a kick-off towards the key Hessian stakeholders in planning, a ‘Living Lab’ was conducted in an early stage of the e-smartec project.

The Hessian State Chancellery, the Hessian Regional and Transport Authorities, and the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Energy, Transportation and Housing, as well as the Regional Authority FrankfurtRheinMain, the Administrative Union Kassel, Hessen Mobil (road & traffic management authority), and ivm GmbH (Integrated Traffic and Mobility Management Frankfurt RhineMain region): these are the main public bodies responsible for planning on a regional level in Hessen that were brought together by e-smartec for the first time.

On a high political level, they exchanged their experiences and talked about current efforts in fostering sustainable mobility planning. They agreed in a common objective to intensify the exchange and increasing communication efforts of planning processes.

A matter of evaluation

Together with the Integrated Traffic and Mobility Management Frankfurt RhineMain region (ivm), the CC-SUM started an extensive research to evaluate the general status of mobility planning in all Hessian municipalities.

Supported by a letter of the Hessian Minister of Economy, Energy, Transport and Housing, all cities, towns, counties and public transport authorities were invited to give a detailed overview on their status of planning activities with references to mobility.

An important focus of this survey lays on getting valid information about the form and intensity of citizens and stakeholders’ engagement as well as co-planning and communication activities. The comprehensive information - which will be collected through this survey for the first time - will be used as a benchmark to develop the action plan for a broad introduction of new marketing instruments in sustainable mobility planning.
