They were primarily interested in examples of successful Czech-Bavarian projects focused on culture, nature, and tourism. The three-day-long programme begun with an international conference. However, they spent most of their time in the field. The next day, they set out to visit the most interesting places with Czech-Bavarian activities in the Tachov District, Domažlice District and Oberpfalz. They spent the last day of their visit in Pilsen.
The goal of the EPICAH project is to improve the coordination of cross-border cooperation and management of the natural and cultural heritage in the border regions of Europe. In Czech-Bavarian region, cross-border cooperation is successfully funded by the 2014 – 2020 INTERREG V-A Germany/Bavaria – Czech Republic Programme and by Disposition Funds, and it is well developed. Therefore, it is no surprise that the partners from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Greece and Estonia have left for their regional homes impressed and full of ideas after their stay in Czech Republic and Bavaria.
"In the years following the revolution, it was vital to re-establish relations which are fortunately well developed now. So we can focus on building infrastructure and the service sector," explained Vice-President of the Pilsen Region Ivana Bartošová when discussing situation Pilsen and the main figure of Project EPICAH, Xoan Vazquez Mao, the Secretary-General of the Portuguese-Spanish organisation Eixo Atlántico.
