The Regional Development Cooperation Weserberglandplus (RDC) had organized its sixth regional conference.
The objective was to present recent activities and outcomes of their cooperation and to discuss relevant news in regional development as well as planned activities in the near future. Landrat Tjark Bartels, present Chairman of RDC, was glad to welcome some 250 representatives from within and without of the region, including ESSPO partners.
After a brief introduction there was a panel discussion, where representatives of the region, of Government of Lower Saxony and of European Commission, DG REGIO, exchanged views concerning regional requirements for successful development. Kai Stryczynski, DG REGIO, explained that RIS3 will be an ex-ante conditionality even in the future and that the Commission is expecting an internationalization of these strategies. Weserbergland seems to be well prepared, he added with a look at the ESSPO partners present.
“Thematic islands” then offered an opportunity to the audience to get close information about numerous projects in the region and about ESSPO and to talk to project partners.
