Improving policy instruments capitalizing the energy saving potentials of the industrial SMEs

Thursday 23 March 2017, 09:30 - 10:00, Table 3

Research has shown that industrial SMEs does not implement energy efficiency measures as much as desired due to challenges. These barriers are well studied and explained. In the same time, policy-makers are formulating new policy programs to speed up technology and digitalization adoptions, however, up until around 2010, industrial SMEs have not received much attention policy- and implementation wise. This means that the sector is facing greater challenges and fail to fulfil the regulations thus jeopardised to go out of business. Yet, very little exchange among policy-makers has taken place in relation to support SME energy policy programs. This project will take the lead towards the progression of stepping into the SME energy policy 2.0 by introducing promising research and energy efficiency policy instruments. The utilisation will lead to the implementation of new project/change in the management or in the strategic focus under Structural Fund fostering the industrial SME sector.
