Considering that fish farming is a relatively new concept, there is the perception that seafood produced in the context of aquaculture is of lesser quality compared to wild-caught seafood. The following article presents a comparison between the quality of wild-caught and farmed fish, explaining the advantages and disadvantages of both farmed and wild seafood.
The article presents some valid points as to why there is this misconception about aquaculture, concluding that under the right aquaculture standards, farmed seafood is of equal if not higher quality compared to wild-caught seafood. It also showcases data about the expansion of aquaculture and some of its benefits to the economy of local communities.
