On Monday 20/09/2021, the Interreg Atlantic Area project “SAFER - Smart Atlantic Seafood Clusters”, organized its Final Conference (14.00-17:00 CET) using ZOOM. The partners of the SAFER project and their stakeholders attended the event (78 attendees).
The Final Conference consisted of three sessions:
• SESSION 1: Present the results of the SAFER project and identify inspiring practices for CPMR Regions.
• SESSION 2: Share regional best practices of innovative solutions in the seafood sector (in production, processing and marketing phases) from CPMR members from different sea-basins, focusing on the 2014-2020 programming period evaluation and on the opportunities offered by the new 2021-2027 period. A specific attention will be given to the EMFF/EMFAF as the main sources of EU financing in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. Regions will be able to share possible difficulties met.
• SESSION 3: Discuss with representatives of the European institutions and territorial cooperation programmes about possible scenarios of cooperation and funding opportunities for innovation of the seafood value chain (transformation and commercialization of seafood products).
Several presentations took place in each session.
The University of Patras participated with the presentation of Dr. Vasileios Kokkinos, (Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Patras, and team member of the EXTRA-SMEs project), who delivered a presentation during Session 2, with title “EXTRA-SMEs Overview and objectives”. The presentation presented the goals, objectives, partners, deliverables, etc. of the EXTRA-SMEs project and the two actions forecasted in the University of Patras Action Plan.
