By strengthening the regional food supply chain, the province of Flevoland wants to shorten the path between the farmer and the consumer. This is to achieve a better price for the farmer and entrepreneur and to strengthen the independence of imports. In the European knowledge project FoodChains4EU, Flevoland had the opportunity to see how various European regions achieve a more effective food supply chain. For example, Manchester has a successful business support program “Recipe 4 Success”. The province of Flevoland has tailored this program into the Flevoland context together with the regional development agency Horizon Flevoland.

Recipe for success
The goal of the Flevoland program is to bring 4 short food chains to success within 12 weeks. Four Flevoland entrepreneurs receive the opportunity to intensive guidance by an experienced business developer for the participating entrepreneurs; this requires a time investment of 8 hours per week, plus participation in the workshops. The 1-on-1 guidance has started on April 19, 2021.

Ingredients
In addition to the 1-on-1 guidance, 4 workshops are organized for entrepreneurs who have a company in the agri and food sector or are closely involved in the strategic side of the company where he/she works. In this way, we want to broaden and strengthen the short food chain knowledge and the network.

The workshops focus on business optimization, branding, use of data and a speed date construction to pitch their food product or service to retail and food service purchasers and consumers.

Floriade Expo 2022, our stage for innovation
The business program is part of the Food Forum programming. With which we give entrepreneurs a platform for innovation at the Floriade Expo 2022.
