Austin’s Reverse Pitch Competition presented for the GRESS project partners. Encouraging the zero-waste economy.

Reverse Pitch is a program to help turn raw materials slated to become waste into the foundation of business ventures. Local institutions can pitch their never-used raw materials to entrepreneurs, informed Mitch Jacobson, Executive Director of Austin Technology incubator at the online meeting, 28th May.

Each entrepreneur who competes will create a business idea to repurpose one or more of the materials and the best ideas will receive prizes to fund their venture. Five local businesses will bring samples of unused materials that usually end up in the trash bin.. Entrepreneurs in the audience had the opportunity to view samples of the materials and ask questions of representatives of the participating local businesses.

The Reverse Pitch Competition is a collaboration between the city of Austin, the Social Entrepreneurship Learning Lab, and the UT McCombs School of Business and others. The video-conference was organised by GRESS Lead Partner City of Kristiansand.
